Alpaca Fleece Scarves and Blankets

The items on this page have been imported from Ecuador. The proceeds are being used to support some of the work Kitzia is doing in Ecuador as well as to help launch our Institute.

The inventory has arrived! We have absolutely incredible alpaca scarves and blankets. They are very soft and warm, lovely workmanship and texture. Alpacas are sheared once a year. Their fleece is as soft as cashmere and warmer than wool.

The scarves have finished edges and discrete embroidery on one end with an image of a llama. I have seen similar ones selling for at Neiman Marcus for $320! We are happy to accept anything over $22.50 as fair for these. We have them in many colors.

Chaste Berry Extract - Vitex agnus castus

Chaste Berry Extract, 2 oz.

Chaste berries are female hormone regulators, especially where there is excess estrogen and low progesterone. This herb is the cornerstone of many Western gynecological programs, including the menstrual cycle, infertility, and menopause. It is thought to work through the pituitary body, not directly on the hormones of the reproductive system. The berries are also used to relieve paralysis and nerve pain.

Alcohol: 40%

Contents: Vitex agnus castus, fresh fruit and organic grain alcohol.

Dong Quai Extract, 2 oz.

Dong quai is probably the second most valued herb in Chinese medicine and is often referred to as a sort of ginseng for women. It is used to balance the female reproductive system and is particularly useful during the critical period of puberty and menopause, but it also helps with the monthly cycle. It is a general tonic herb for almost all issues faced by women, everything from hormone balance to bleeding and the aftermath of giving birth to a baby. It is even used for headaches that are caused by blood insufficiency. Dong quai is a Chinese kind of angelica and should be considered by anyone who is discontinuing use of hormonal medications.

Alcohol: 49-51%

Contents: extract of Angelica sinensis root in organic alcohol, distilled water, and vegetable glycerin.

$

Fenugreek Extract, 2 oz.

Fenugreek is used in Ayurvedic medicine to lower blood sugar and reduce cholesterol. It works by delaying absorption of glucose because of balanced chemical structure. In Western herbal medicine, it has been used to promote breast development, lactation, and libido; reduce PMS and menopausal symptoms; regulate blood sugar; and aid thinking. It is high in antioxidants and is used to retard aging. It is nutritive and used for convalescing patients as well as those suffering from anorexia.

$

Kachur Extract, 2 oz.

Zedoary is a white turmeric that is often used in Chyawanprash and other Ayurvedic preparations. Like other members of the ginger family, it is used both in cooking and medicine. It is anti-inflammatory and analgesic and is often used externally for wound healing, but its function in longevity tonics is to support the female reproductive system, urinary tract, and protect against ulcers due to stress. Its strength should not be underestimated: it is an antivenom for cobra toxins.

Alcohol: 24-26%

Contents: 1:5 extract of Curcuma zedoaria in Distilled Water, Organic Alcohol, and Vegetable Glycerin, and Organic Apple Cider Vinegar.

Kapi Kacchu Extract, 2 oz.

Mucuna pruriens is a legume and the extract is made from seeds. It is the most famous herb for Parkinson's disease, a condition that was described in ancient times in India. However, due to its high L-DOPA content, it is also becoming a favorite by lucid dreamers. It is a nervine and supports transmission of signals by the nervous system. It is also used in India to enhance sperm count, induce ovulation, and overcome stubborn sterility of both men and women.

Alcohol: 49-51%

Contents: 1:4 extract of organically grown Mucuna pruriens in Distilled Water, Organic Alcohol, and Vegetable Glycerin.

$

Mugwort Extract, 2 oz.

This product has been added largely because of requests for herbs that promote lucid dreaming. There are, however, other uses, both shamanic and conventional. Though mugwort is anti-parasitic like many other artemisias, it is nearly always been considered to be a feminine herb. It is believed to be more effective at the full moon and when used in this way can help regulate cycles, especially girls just approaching puberty.

Alcohol: 45%

Contents: 1:5 extract of Artemisia vulgaris in distilled water, organic grain alcohol, and vegetable glycerin.

Musta Extract, 2 oz.

Nut grass is one of the ingredients in Chyawanprash. It is a highly revered herb and is used in such a wide variety of situations that it is hard to pinpoint its role in rejuvenative therapy. First of all, the roots are considered to be effective against a wide range of abdominal and intestinal complaints, everything from menstrual discomfort to parasites. Secondly, they are anti-inflammatory and have an action on the brain that suppresses appetite, and this function works in tandem with a lipolytic effect that makes it easier to lose weight. Lastly, it has an effect on melanin that aids restoration of hair and skin color.

Alcohol: 59-61%

Contents: Cyperus rotundus rhizome in Distilled Water, Organic Alcohol, and Vegetable Glycerin.

$

Myrrh Extract, 2 oz.

Myrrh gum has a long history of use as both a medicine and perfume as well as incense. It is aromatic but intensely bitter. It is used in Chinese medicine to move stagnant blood and is often used for problems associated with menstruation as well as uterine tumors. Its use in Ayurvedic medicine is similar, but it is processed differently. In Western medicine, myrrh is used both internally and externally as an antiseptic. It is used mainly for toothaches and gums in mouthwashes and for wound healing and sprains externally. Studies suggest that it helps to maintain correct blood sugar and cholesterol levels. It is often used in the treatment of arthritis.

Red Clover Extract, 2 oz.`

Traditionally, red clover has been used to address some of the side effects of menopause. The flowering tops contain isoflavones (mostly genistein and daidzein) which some studies suggest have an estrogenic effect, but others deny this. It is considered safe for use by breast cancer patients who are post-menopause but the jury is not in on pre-menopausal persons. It is often used by post-menopausal women to reduce the risk of bone loss (osteoporosis) because the herb is rich in calcium and magnesium as well as vitamin C and niacin. Red clover is a blood purifier and is the main ingredient in Sundance Elixir, our version of the Hoxsey Tonic. It is generally recommended for melanoma patients since studies indicate it inhibits B16 melanoma cells. It is also often used to reduce the risk of prostate cancer.

Shatavari is a galactagogue and rasayana herb, used mainly but not exclusively by women. It is a hormonal regulator and useful at changes of life. It increases the libibo of both men and women. The roots are very high in amino acids, trace minerals, and vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, and E.

Dioscorea Root Tincture

Wild Yam Extract, 2 oz. [Formerly called Dioscorea]

As the doctrine of signatures might suggest, wild yam is spleen tonic. It is antispasmodic and used to quell nausea, especially during pregnancy. One of its chief constituents is a steroidal saponin that is used in rheumatoid arthritis treatment, but the herb as a whole is demulcent, nourishing, soothing, and tonifying. It makes an excellent supplement for people suffering from deficiency conditions, especially during convalescence or after the age of 65.

Alcohol: 50%

Contents: Dioscorea villosa, fresh root and organic grain alcohol.
